Offerings to keep your health & wellness on track – your mind stimulated

As we walk confidently into summer 2024 (having kept up with our walking and participated in programs that help our balance), Camarillo Health Care District has additional offerings to keep your health and wellness on track and your mind stimulated.

Clove Dental returns with more free dental screenings. The Camarillo-based dental practice offers 5-minute time slots between noon and 1 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month July-September (July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18). Screenings take place on our campus at 3639 E. Las Posas Road in Camarillo.  Appointments for Brushing and Hygiene Fundamentals, Dental Check-Up Screenings and Oral Cancer Screenings can be made by calling 805-388-1952.

Debbie Deem, retired FBI victim specialist, has more dates for fraud and scam intervention coaching. She is on our campus the fourth Wednesday of every month with one-on-one appointments at noon and 1 p.m., and drop-in from 2 to 3 p.m. Call us at 805-388-1952 to set an appointment or for more information. She provides resources and information, and can warn you about the latest scams and red flags for spotting them.

Our friends at the Ventura County Area on Aging are offering two more Medicare counseling appointments each month (four total) on our campus, in addition to three presentations on the topic. Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) counselors will provide free, unbiased options counseling to Medicare beneficiaries. Assistance is available for Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap and Part D Prescription Drug Plans.

Special Medicare presentations are planned July 12, Aug. 9 and Sept. 6 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Appointments are needed for counseling, but no pre-registration is necessary for the presentations. Call 805-388-1952 for an appointment.

And we will be hosting two educational presentations from local doctors.

Dr. Saranya Reghunathan, board-certified ENT Specialist in Camarillo, will discuss common issues with the aging ear, nose and throat and updated minimally invasive safe treatment options for those who have been suffering. Some of these conditions include chronic rhinitis (runny nose), tinnitus (ringing the ear), eustachian tube dysfunction (ear blockage and/or fullness and pressure), nasal congestion, chronic cough, trouble swallowing, and hoarseness.

Dr. Reghunathan specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of voice, swallowing and airway disorders.

Dr. Justin Millard returns from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on July 26 for Part 3 of his presentation on The Aging Spine.

A presentation with an audience, a speaker with a mic, and a slideshow about medical anatomy.This has been a popular educational presentation that has attracted up to 45 attendees at each of the last two sessions. Part 1 and 2 are not pre-requisites to registering. Anyone may attend, but must register in advance. Seating is limited.

Dr. Millard is a board-certified spine surgeon at Community Memorial Healthcare whose practice focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery and motion preservation spine surgery.
