The group meets the fourth Thursday of the month at noon\, except in November. The November meeting is held the third Thursday of the month. December’s meeting is replaced with a holiday party in the evening. SUMMARY:Doctor Talk: Lifestyle Psychiatry
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Nassi Navid\, associate program director and  a consultation-liaison psychiatrist at Community Memorial Healthcare\, will speak on the topic of Lifestyle Psychiatry \, with a focus on nutritional psychiatry\, on April 23 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Camarillo Health Care District\, 3639 Las Posas Road\, in Camarillo. \nA graduate of the hospital’s inaugural class of the Psychiatry Residency Program\, he also serves as a staff psychiatrist at Ventura County Medical Center\, San Diego County Hospital\, and the Community Research Foundation. \nDr. Navid received his MD–MPH degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences\, Iran in 2010 and later completed an MBA certificate at the University of Tehran’s Faculty of Entrepreneurship in 2015. He practiced as a primary care physician for seven years before relocating to the United States in 2017. He completed his psychiatry residency at Community Memorial Healthcare in 2024\, serving as Chief of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Ventura County Medical Center\, and went on to complete a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the University of California\, San Diego\, in 2025. He is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. \nIn addition\, Dr. Navid pursued advanced psychodynamic training\, completing a two-year fellowship in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles in 2025. His scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications\, most recently an article on the role of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry in the care of unhoused populations. \nDr. Navid is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association\, Southern California Psychiatric Society\, Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry\, American Academy of Community Psychiatry\, and the American Association of Directors of Psychiatry Residency Training. \nAs Associate Program Director\, Dr. Navid is dedicated to advancing medical education and innovative models of care. He is currently spearheading the development of Community Memorial Hospital’s new Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service\, designed to strengthen collaboration between psychiatry and medicine and expand access to comprehensive mental health care.

SUMMARY:Dementia Live simulation
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Live is a high impact\, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia\, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. Participants are outfitted in specialized gear and given a series of tasks to perform. The challenges and struggles one faces become very real to the participant\, triggering heightened empathy and understanding\, creating a catalyst for meaningful communication and improving quality of care. We currently have three offerings. \nMonday\, April 27\, 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. \nFriday\, May 22\, 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. \nFriday\, June 19\, 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. \nPlease register in advance by calling 800-900-8582. There is no charge.

SUMMARY:Dealing with Dementia
DESCRIPTION:The Dealing with Dementia Program was developed by the Rosalynn Carter Institute as an evidence-informed educational support program for caregivers of people living with dementia. This 4-hour workshop highlights topics such as the caregiving experience with an easily understandable explanation of dementia\, best practices in caregiving\, and problem solving with dementia behaviors. Learn tips for caregivers to find time for self-care and stress management. Completed workshop participants will receive a comprehensive manual for dementia caregivers. Spanish and English available. \nWednesday\, April 29 and May 6\, 1-3 p.m. \nPlease call to register. The cost of materials is $35\, or $39 for Non-District residents. \nRegister: 800-900-8582
