DESCRIPTION:10-11 a.m. Monday\, Aug. 3 \n2-3 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 14 \n(individual classes\,  at least one intro class required before you sign up. See video below to check out some of the adventures.) \nSo you’ve completed one of our Intro VR classes or you already have experience in VR\, then you’re invited to join our intermediate class Independent Adventures\, where the world is your oyster. In Independent Adventures\, you’ll be assigned a VR headset with pre-loaded apps. You can choose virtual travel\, guided Tai Chi or meditation\, cook in a virtual kitchen\, go on “photo assignment” in Antarctica or Machu Picchu\, Peru\, experience heightened senses with Notes on Blindness\, or snorkel or hangout in nature with animals. DESCRIPTION:1-2:15 p.m.  Thursday\, Aug 6 (individual class\, intro level — at least one intro class is required to go on to intermediate or pro level.) \nExplore the natural world\, choosing different settings in nature at night or during the day\, with music or soothing sounds of nature\, and encountering 20 different animals\, including dinosaurs\, tigers\, elephants and bears\, or spend your time meditating in nature. If this is your first time to using Oculus/Meta 2 virtual reality headsets and controllers\, no worries. We’ll spend 20-25 minutes showing you how to use them\, plus discussing the benefits of VR. The next 50 minutes will be spent enjoying our adventures before we all chat about our experiences and document our travel adventures in our Adventures in VR passport. DESCRIPTION:Do you have hundreds of photos on your smartphone? Thousands in a shoebox? Creating scrapbooks is a fun pastime that no longer needs to include multiple tools and glue guns. The Camarillo Health Care District will offer Digital Scrapbooking\, a class that can help you turn your beloved photos into an actual book for your coffee table. This two-part class will cover the different online companies (platforms) that make digital scrapbooking\, how to upload your photos (easier than you think!)\, crop\, arrange and create your pages (more fun thank you might imagine!)\, add creative layers and decoration to your pages\, and order your book for yourself or for wonderful gifts! DESCRIPTION:The Dealing with Dementia Program was developed by the Rosalynn Carter Institute as an evidence-informed educational support program for caregivers of people living with dementia. This four-hour workshop highlights topics such as: the caregiving experience with an easily understandable explanation of dementia\, best practices in caregiving\, and problem solving with dementia behaviors. Learn tips for caregivers to find time for self-care and stress management. DESCRIPTION:Dementia Live is a high impact\, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia\, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. Participants are outfitted in specialized gear and given a series of tasks to perform. The challenges and struggles one faces become very real to the participant\, triggering heightened empathy and understanding\, creating a catalyst for meaningful communication and improving quality of care. SUMMARY:VR Travel Club
DESCRIPTION:Travel Club 23 will meet 1-2:15 p.m. on Thursdays\, Aug. 27-Sept. 17 \nSign up for our new VR Travel Club and you’ll become a member of a core group that meets regularly for four weeks exploring the world together. Each week is something different\, from adventures in national parks and castles around the world to famous spots in Australia  and Spain. \nEach narrated 3-D video is 2 to 8 minutes and we take a couple minutes in between to chat about what we saw and experienced together as we are in the same place virtually at the same time\, seeing the same amazing historic sites and natural landscapes. We’ll end each week with an awe-inspiring virtual excursion like Icefields Parkway and Belalp Festival\, Toucan Encounters and tour of Buckingham Palace\, a Flamenco Dance Performance or go diving with sea turtles. \nBecause these travel adventures are based on actual video\, this 3-D experience makes you feel as if you’re really there. \nOver the four  weeks\, you’ll get to know your travel companions. Each travel group will come up with its own name. The group decides! Maybe it’s Wanderlust\, Nomads or TSA-Free. You’ll wear a lanyard with your group photo and club name as you create memories that connect you. After Week 1\, bring your own snacks for a post-experience Snack & Chat with your new friends. \nThere are only six spots available in each club.
