SUMMARY:Dementia Live simulation experience
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Live is a high-impact\, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia\, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. At the Camarillo Health Care District\, participants are outfitted in specialized gear and given a series of tasks to perform. The challenges and struggles one faces become very real to the participant\, triggering heightened empathy and understanding\, creating a catalyst for meaningful communication and improving quality of care. We currently have three offerings. Friday\, Aug. 2\, between 9 a.m. and noon (1-hour long; sign up for 9\, 10 or 11 a.m.) There is no charge. Call 805-388-1952 to participate.

DESCRIPTION:Join Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice for “Living with Type 2 and Pre-Diabetes\,” a free class offered the fourth Wednesday of the month July through December\, 1:30-3 p.m. It will be presented by Linda Hampson\, a registered nurse and diabetes nurse specialist. Learn about meal planning\, exercise\, blood-sugar monitoring\, medication and new developments. No registration is necessary. Meet at Goebel Adult Community Center’s Foothill Room\, 1385 E.
