SUMMARY:A Salute to Our Troops
DESCRIPTION:Join America Supporting Americans\, Greater Conejo Valley Chapter for “A Salute To Our Troops” 10 a.m. on June 13 at the Conejo Creek Park North Lakeside Pavilion in Thousand Oaks. Moving Seniors Forward is a sponsor of the event and members are selling raffle tickets to benefit the organization. Win a $500 gift card from Boccaccio’s restaurant for just $5 a chance. Moving Seniors Forward\, a community resource group made up of compassionate professionals providing guidance and information that enhance the lives of seniors and their families\, has been a silver sponsor in the past. Find a list of members on our website or email movingseniorsforward@gmail.com to purchase a ticket. A band\, bagpiper\, bugler\, singer and color guard will join guest speakers and military personnel at the tribute. The public is invited to attend the event. Festivities will include recognition of the anniversary of when the American flag was adopted in 1777. A flag display honoring active military members and veterans will be set up and there will be a cake. To purchase a flag for the hero in your life\, visit ASA’s website. Tribute flags are available for $25 and will be featured. All proceeds from flag sales will support the organization and its efforts of sending care packages to U.S. military troops. DESCRIPTION:Camarillo Health Care District’s Dementia Live is a high-impact\, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia\, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. Participants are outfitted in specialized gear and given a series of tasks to perform. The challenges and struggles one faces become very real to the participant\, triggering heightened empathy and understanding\, creating a catalyst for meaningful communication and improving quality of care. SUMMARY:VR Travel Club
DESCRIPTION:Sign up for Camarillo Health Care District’s new VR Travel Club and you’ll become a member of a core group that meets regularly for four weeks exploring the world together. Each week is something different\, from adventures in national parks and castles around the world to famous spots in Australia  and Spain. \nEach narrated 3-D video is 2 to 8 minutes and we take a couple minutes in between to chat about what we saw and experienced together as we are in the same place virtually at the same time\, seeing the same amazing historic sites and natural landscapes. We’ll end each week with an awe-inspiring virtual excursion\, Icefields Parkway and Belalp Festival\, Toucan Encounters and tour of Buckingham Palace\, a Flamenco Dance Performance and go diving with sea turtles. \nBecause these travel adventures are based on actual video\, this 3-D experience makes you feel as if you’re really there. \nOver the four  weeks\, you’ll get to know your travel companions. Each travel group will come up with its own name. The group decides! Maybe it’s Wanderlust\, Nomads or TSA-Free. You’ll wear a lanyard with your group photo and club name as you create memories that connect you. After Week 1\, bring your own snacks for a post-experience Snack & Chat with your new friends. \nTravel Club 21 will meet 10-11:15 a.m. Mondays\, June 22-July 13 \nThere are only six spots available in each club. SUMMARY:VR Activity Club
DESCRIPTION:Camarillo Health Care District’s VR Activity Club encourages group experiences and social connection through an immersive program that combines virtual reality travel and in-real-life (IRL) activities. Participants may take a stroll down memory lane or learn something new by engaging in a group activity\, and experience the excitement of virtual travel with guided tours and discussions. \nThese clubs are made up of six individuals who meet four consecutive weeks. The experiences are one-hour long with an additional 30 minutes set aside for an optional Snack & Chat (participants bring their own snacks for themselves and snack while getting to know each other better\, building their connection and possibly leading to a friendship).
