It’s hard to fathom. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. It could be because of a traumatic injury from a car crash, a chronic illness, cancer treatment or surgery.

So, what happens if the blood supply is short? That’s where we come in.

Currently, there is an urgent need for blood donations. That’s why Vitalant and Buena Vista Home Health and Hospice have teamed up to host a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2024, at 2545 W. Hillcrest Drive, in Thousand Oaks. Appointments can be made by calling 877-258-4825.

Three lives can be saved with every donation. And locally, 300 donors are needed every day to give blood in order to meet the needs. One in seven patients entering the hospital will need a blood transfusion as it’s one of the most common treatments in hospitals today treating a variety of medical conditions.

Vitalant is a nonprofit blood supplier to the majority of hospitals in Ventura County, including Los Robles in Thousand Oaks.
