Camarillo Health Care District drops two more episodes on podcast ‘Stories from the Heart’

We know that having connections with others improves our quality of life and sense of well-being.  So, it only makes sense that listening to personal stories from our neighbors can be a source of inspiration, bring comfort, foster empathy and serve as a way to engage and connect while helping us to understand our own lives.

If you aren’t yet listening to Camarillo Health Care District’s podcast, “Stories from the Heart: Inspiring Tales of Life, Love and Learning,” I hope you start. You’ll find it on Apple PodcastsSpotifySoundCloud and our website. Each is 7-12 minutes long — great to listen to while on a walk, car ride, during a lunch break or lazy afternoon.

I hope the podcast provides a space where you may relate to stories from other family caregivers, people facing health challenges, navigating grief, overcoming obstacles and more.

Telling impactful personal stories that resonate with people can instantly build connection. By amplifying these stories, we are aiming to create a better understanding of the challenges of caregiving, living with chronic health conditions and our different personal journeys. Through the podcast, the District creates a world where people are seen and heard through their own personal stories, which we hope brings us closer.

The District is looking for more residents to share their inspirational stories about life, love and learning. If selected, you will work with me, a storytelling coach and longtime journalist, to develop a true, first-person story that’s illuminating and entertaining, and to record on our podcast.

The idea behind this project is to create community connection and build empathy around our experiences. While listeners may not share your exact experience, they may see themselves reflected in your story, through similarities or same lesson/different life. To express your interest in participating, fill out this form and we will be in touch soon: https://forms.gle/DqKYEqV1PKbVLPgw9

Listen to some of the stories local residents have already shared. One of our most recent episodes features Adriana Recendez sharing a personal story about her mother’s terminal illness, their complicated relationship, a secret revealed and the soundtrack of their lives. Another new episode features a story by Gregory Morgan about young love, a difficult decision and a reunion that changes his life forever.

And keep a lookout for our next live show, featuring your neighbors sharing their stories IRL (in real life!).
