Passionate about the mission, Aracely Avila is a development manager at the California Central Coast chapter of this national nonprofit organization.
“The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.”
Representing the organizations’ two largest signature events, Aracely oversees the Walk for Alzheimer’s fundraiser. The Walk, held in multiple locations throughout the chapter (spanning from Ventura to SLO counties) is in the fall. The organization also holds a DIY fundraiser called The Longest Day (TLD) and it’s during summer solstice in June, symbolizing that every day is the longest day for those with Alzheimer’s/dementia and their hardworking caregivers. Both events fundraise throughout the entire year.
In addition to research for treatment and a cure, the organization provides free programs, resources and support to those in need and their caregivers. The association has a helpline available 24/7/365 with highly education and trained professionals: 800-272-3900.
