The act of saluting a military service member or a veteran is a sign of respect. What better time to offer that salute than on Flag Day?
Join America Supporting Americans, Greater Conejo Valley Chapter for “A Salute To Our Troops” 10:30 a.m. on June 13 at the Conejo Creek Park North Lakeside Pavilion in Thousand Oaks. Moving Seniors Forward is a sponsor of the event and members are selling raffle tickets to benefit the organization. Win a $500 gift card from Boccaccio’s restaurant for just $5 a chance. Moving Seniors Forward, a community resource group made up of compassionate professionals providing guidance and information that enhance the lives of seniors and their families, has been a silver sponsor in the past. Find a list of members on our website or email movingseniorsforward@gmail.com to purchase a ticket.
A band, bagpiper, bugler, singer and color guard will join guest speakers and military personnel at the tribute. The public is invited to attend the event. Festivities will include recognition of the anniversary of when the American flag was adopted in 1777. A flag display honoring active military members and veterans will be set up and there will be a cake.
“In the last 11 years, ASA has sent over 5,000 care packages to our troops. Our goal is to raise their morale higher than the clouds,” said Jim Sumner of America Supporting Americans Greater Conejo Valley Chapter and a member of Moving Seniors Forward.
To purchase a flag for the hero in your life, visit ASA’s website. Tribute flags are available for $25 and will be featured. All proceeds from flag sales will support the organization and its efforts of sending care packages to U.S. military troops.
